That season saw the Imps finish in 3rd place – and with Torquay United hitting the post in the dying minutes at Leyton Orient, it was enough for huge celebrations at Sincil Bank.
Of note are two of the clubs that finished in the top seven that year. Scarborough were defunct some years later and Torquay United have battled relegation and promotion between the National league and South the last few years. Macclesfield also became defunct – in that guise – recently too.
